Investigation Booklet: In Caesar’s Camps
An archaeological discovery has disturbed the tranquillity of the hills north of Alesia: during an excavation carried out in the area of a Roman camp dating from the siege of 52 BC, archaeologists have unearthed an almost entirely preserved human skeleton, hastily deposited at the bottom of a ditch, some distance from the camp.
An ancient crime or simply the ravages of war? Who was this person, and what circumstances led to their death? The museum invites visitors to take on the role of investigators: examine the remains, explore the museum’s galleries, gather clues and try to solve this mystery from antiquity.
