What if history came to life before your very eyes?

At the MuséoParc Alésia, the famous battle of 52 BC is brought to life through an immersive experience combining augmented reality, 360° imagery and soundscapes.

With your smartphone in hand and headphones on, you’ll explore the fortifications and scan QR codes to plunge into the heart of the action. Augmented reality reconstructions, actors and 3D elements allow you to relive the key moments of the battle: the construction of the Roman fortifications, life in the camps, troop movements and the strategies of Caesar and Vercingetorix.

In addition, a unique immersive sound installation on the MuséoParc terrace brings to life the clamour of battle, the strategic decisions of military leaders and the historical accounts from “The Gallic Wars”. A true exploration of the soundscape that transforms a visit to the site into a sensory and memorable experience.

Designed in collaboration with historians, researchers, artists and digital experts, this innovative project enriches a visit to the MuséoParc Alésia and is aimed at all audiences, particularly schoolchildren.

The Four Seasons of Alésia

To help you better understand the Alésia site, we’ve created a 3D app that allows you to explore the town at your leisure. Thanks to a collaboration with Ohrizon and Salisbury Archaeology, supported by a strong scientific advisory board, you can now see the main buildings of Alésia as they were in Gallo-Roman times.

Using a tablet, set off to explore the ruins and step back in time to discover Gallo-Roman Alésia as you’ve never seen it before!

You’ll wander through its streets, discovering its architecture, urban layout and the daily lives of its inhabitants! At each stop, a family-friendly game introduces you to archaeological techniques: you’re the archaeologist!

The “Four Seasons” 3D app is available in French, English, German, Dutch, Spanish and French Sign Language (LSF).
