The Alésia MuséoParc: a museum committed to a sustainable future

The MuséoParc Alésia bases its work on a comprehensive approach to social responsibility, affirming the role of museums as key players in the ecological, social and cultural transition and in promoting more sustainable tourism. It brings together all its teams, partners and suppliers around shared objectives.

Eco-designed exhibitions and exemplary environmental management of the site

From an environmental perspective, the MuséoParc Alésia is implementing an active strategy to reduce its ecological footprint, notably through responsible waste management based on reduction at source, sorting and the recovery of food waste. Particular attention is paid to the eco-design of exhibitions, prioritising sustainable, reusable displays, low-impact materials and exhibition layouts designed to minimise resource consumption throughout their entire life cycle.

Control of energy and water consumption is based on optimised technical management of the building, the installation of high-performance equipment, the use of sustainable materials and rainwater harvesting. The site also promotes sustainable transport options, offering shared electric bikes, car-sharing schemes and a carbon-neutral vehicle fleet.

Committed to preserving biodiversity, the MuséoParc adopts environmentally responsible practices in the management of its natural spaces, notably through eco-grazing, and places environmental issues at the heart of its exhibitions, events and educational activities, thereby raising public awareness of contemporary challenges.

A strong commitment to social, regional and cultural issues

MuséoParc Alésia’s sustainable approach is also reflected in its strong social and local commitment: prioritising local employment, providing career guidance, supporting training, improving accessibility for people with disabilities, and working closely with local economic, cultural and community organisations.

This approach is underpinned by responsible and transparent governance, achieved through the development of a sustainable tourism offering. True to its mission, the MuséoParc Alésia upholds strong ethical standards, responsible communication and a cultural programme that is accessible, innovative and informed by historical research.

Towards national recognition of its commitment to sustainability

In 2026, the MuséoParc Alésia will embark on the process of obtaining the “Sustainable Entertainment” accreditation, which recognises leisure and cultural organisations committed to a responsible transition. This recognition highlights an integrated approach to environmental, social and economic issues, in support of an exemplary museum that is mindful of its impact and resolutely forward-looking.
